Basic 9-1-1 Communications Officer National Certification
This demonstrates students have the basic knowledge, skills, and experience to understand the functional operation of an emergency communications system, and their role and responsibilities within the emergency communications system. The NECI Basic satiates Perkins requirements for Industry Recognized Credentials.
This meets the following national 9-1-1 standards:
- APCO ANSI National Public Safety 9-1-1 Training Standard
- NENA 56-004 – TTY/TDD Call Handling Standard
- NENA 56-005 – NENA Call Answering Standard
- NFPA 1061

Basic 9-1-1 Communications Officer with Simulator Certification
Upgrade the Basic Certification with certified simulator time. This moves your student ahead of applicants without experience. The NECI simulator is online. If your student has access to a computer with internet access – they can train using realistic scenarios that respond to the students call actions. No additional equipment required. Teachers and students receive detailed feedback appropriate for coaching and evaluation.
This certification option comes with access to the NECI online student course for Basic 9-1-1 Dispatch. Instructors can use this to hybridize instruction or allow students to move through content independently.
Cost – $100 LAPSEN member price for exam plus additional certification of 10 hours of dispatch simulation

Implementation
Note: NECI allows a school year “grace period” for a teacher to complete all training. During this time a school may teach, test, and certify students.
Instructor Certification
Students completing the online course do not require an instructor that is certified. In all other course delivery options teachers must complete the requirements to be an NECI classroom instructor. For more specific information – Click Here
