The ACTE/LAPSEN Partnership
The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) is the nation’s largest not-for-profit
association committed to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for
successful careers. ACTE represents the community of CTE professionals, including educators,
administrators, researchers, counseling and career development professionals and others at all
levels of education. ACTE is committed to excellence in providing advocacy, public awareness
and access to resources, professional development and leadership opportunities.
ACTE’s New and Related Services (NRS) Division includes several special interest sections,
including Career Academies, CTE Scholars, Work-Based Learning/Youth Apprenticeship Program
(formerly called Cooperative Work Experience), Integration of Academics and Career and
Technical Education, Instructional Management & Materials, Makers of Policy/Public
Information, JROTC Leadership Pathways, Special Populations, Support Staff, Tech Prep, and
Other. These sections represent individuals from emerging areas of career and technical
education unrelated to an established ACTE Division or individuals from areas that provide
specialized support to broad areas of CTE that often cut across all Divisions.
- In 2018, LAPSEN and ACTE agreed to form a partnership to support law, public safety,
corrections and security career programs. Efforts that both organizations will collaborate on will
include: - Developing courses, certifications, assessments and other education resources when of
mutual benefit to both organizations and its members - Co-locating national conferences as adjoining events for cost-savings, promotional
expansion and program coordination
Jointly programming and developing an annual schedule of online (webinar)
professional development sessions to serve the LPSCS/LAPSEN members’ needs.
Together we commit to supporting CTE professionals in this sector with professional
development opportunities, resources and member benefits. For questions about our NRS
sections, contact Rachael Mann, ACTE NRS Division Vice President. For questions about
membership, contact Cherisa Martin, Membership & Communications Manager.
